Optometrists, Alex & Hayley Alexandrou founded Alex Optical with the mission to offer honest advice, listen to patients and help them in the best possible way with their eyecare needs.  

With experience owning and running an optometrist practice in Finchley, London. The optometrists at Alex Optical understand the importance of training and both continue their education via online or at conferences in the UK and Cyprus. 

Belonging to "The British College of Optometrists" and "The Cyprus Association of Optometrist", the practice fully is equipped with the up to date equipment and lens technology.  Alex Optical keeps up to date with the latest treatments to ensure your eye health is in safe hands.

 The staff at Alex Optical have a wide range of skills and have a combined 50+ years of experience in optometry specializing in children’s eye exams, contact lenses, spectacles for colour deficiency or blindness, Dyslexia and Low vision.

Alex Alexandrou FBDO BSc (Hons) Optom

Optometrist  / Founder

Alex started studying dispensing optics at City & Islington College. He continued his studies at the City, University of London. Alex became a fully qualified Optometrist in 1996 after completing his pre-registration year.

During his pre-reg year, he worked in Moorfield's Eye hospital’s Contact Lens Department and private practice and did volunteer work including the Institute of Optometrist. He also worked in Whittington Hospital in the Low vision and Children's Eye clinic and Queen Elizabeth II Hospital in the Glaucoma clinic and Low vision. The rest of the time he spent working in a private practice.

Alex previously worked at Ultralase Laser Eye Clinic in London and he was the top optometrist in the country, winning Optometrist Of The Year Award for 6 continuous years until moving from the UK to Cyprus.

He now divides his time between Alex Optical and Ophthalmos Eye and Laser Center in Nicosia where he is the senior Optom & Head of Optometry. Amongst his expertise and passion is keratoconus and keratoconic fitting of scleral contact lenses, with over 8 years experience. He thrives on all difficult cases that everyone else has given up on!

Hayley Alexandrou FBDO BSc (Hons) Optom 

 Optometrist  / Founder

Hayley started studying dispensing optics at City & Islington College and continued her studies at the City, University of London.

Hayley did her pre-registration year in the Institute of Optometry an Institute of excellence. She worked at St Thomas Hospital and Great Ormond Street children's Eye Hospital contact lens department.

Hayley became a fully qualified optician in 1996 after completing her pre-registration year. And continued to work in a private practice while raising 3 children.

Hayley currently works full time at Alex Optical. She is responsible for the great challenge of running an Optometric practice. That, of course, includes eye examinations of customers of all ages including children, fitting and teaching new contact lens wearers, making sure every pair of spectacles is within the high standards that Alex Optical sets.

Iveta Efremova 

Optical Assistant / Receptionist 

Iveta joined Alex Optical in 2013 and quickly became an integral part of the team. She already had two years of previous experience working in an optometric practice. Iveta is essential for the smooth running of the shop.

She is an expert on selecting the best frame and sunglass for our customers. She is passionate about fashion and, she makes sure the latest trends in Eyewear are always first seen at Alex Optical.
